First Embryo Transplantation of Poetin Successful

July 14, 2004

Poetin, winning the 2003 World Championships for Young Dressage HorsesDe Keyzershoeve, owners of the double Bundeschampionate and World Champion mare Poetin, announced that there has been a first successful embryo transplantation of their mare Poetin. An embryo of Poetin by the stallion Jazz has been successfully transplanted into a foster mare.

After the purchase of Poetin for 2.5 million euro at the 2003 P.S.I Auction, owner Peter van der Zwan immediately said that the mare would have to show her worth by being both a sport horse and brood mare.

Van der Zwan selected the stallion Jazz for Poetin, because Jazz is a proven Grand Prix dressage horse under Tineke Bartels and has multiple scoring offspring. De Keyzershoeve has already started the process for a second embryo transplantation. They have chosen the stallion Contango for this second E.T.

Owner Patty van der Zwan is currently training the mare under the watchful eye of former Dutch team trainer Jo Willems.
