Joachim Kemmer Passed Away

Joachim Kemmer, father of German international dressage rider Heike Kemmer, founder of Amselhof Walle, and a renowned horse breeder, has passed away a fortnight ago. On February 6, 2006, he turned 83 years old and died two days later on February 8, 2006.

Joachim Kemmer establed the famous breeding station Amselhof Walle, named after his first mare Amsel. His farm was a center for Hanoverian horse breeding and his founding mare lines go back to foundation sires Ferdinand and Waidmannsdank xx. In 1977, Kemmer's stallion Wendepunkt, which he purchased as a foal, was one of only six private stallions (spread over four stud farms) in the entire area covered by the Hanoverian Chamber of Agriculture. Renowned sires such as Akzent II, Gardeulan I and II, and Gotthard were once stationed at Kemmer's farm. In the 90s stallions such as Raphael, Calypso II, Arogno and Ravallo were based there.

Daughter Heike Kemmer took over the management of the farm in the nineties and she shifted the focal point from show jumping to dressage. Heike is currently a representative of the Hanoverian Private Stallion Owners' Society and presides in the Hanoverian Stallion Licensing Committee.
