2005 European Dressage Championships

Heike Kemmer's Bonaparte Withdrawn

July 30, 2005

Heike KemmerIn an official press statement, Heike Kemmer announced the withdrawal of her horse Bonaparte from the 2005 European Dressage Championships. Her 12-year old Hanoverian gelding sustained an injury in his Grand Prix test or right after it, as a bleeding wound on the right fetlock was noticed.

"Bonaparte showed a minimal lameness during the veterinary control on Saturday morning," Kemmer explained. "I'm very sad, but I feel better knowing that I have made a decision, which is in my horse's best interest."

Kemmer and Bonaparte (by Bon Bonaparte) placed sixth individually in the Grand Prix and won the team gold medal.
