Troy Sold to Peter and Patty van der Zwan
February 12, 2004
Peter and Patty van der Zwan, best known as the owners of the brillian sport mare Poetin, have purchased the KWPN licensed breeding stallion Troy. The dark bay Troy is by Negro out of Lieni (by Glendale x Radboud) and finished fifth in the champion's ring at the 2003 KWPN Stallion Licensing. Van der Zwan's mare Poetin (Sandro Hit x Brentano II) is currently still at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, Germany, but will move to de Keyzershoeve in The Netherlands next month. The van der Zwans have planned to do an embryotransfer with the combination Troy x Poetin.
In his Stallion Performance Test, Troy showed the best canter of all, earning him a nine for this gait. He got an 8 for his walk, a 7 for his trot and a 7.5 for his dressage potential. Troy scored mainly 6's on his show jumping ability. Troy is bred by Mr. Klinkhamer from Graft and was owned by H. de Koning.
Although the stallion was scheduled to be up for stud at Lauw van Vliet's breeding station, he will most likely move to De Keyzershoeve.
To the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, Peter and Patty van der Zwan told that they want to get four to six embryo's of Poetin transferred per year. Patty van der Zwan has said that her ultimate goal is to beat Anky van Grunsven in the 2008 Olympic Games in Bejing.
