The Horse in Chinese and Thai Art

Horse in Thai artAfter six days of walking the cultural scene of Bangkok (visiting a dozen wats [Buddhist temples], national museum, Jim Thompson house, Ayutthaya, etc.), Eurodressage travelled to Pattaya, Thailand, to relax. Known as the sex capital of the world, Pattaya is small city where go go bars are the cement that holds it together. Sleezy hotels, bars and brothels next to one another with a gorgeous beach and a turquoise blue ocean at its edge.

Of course seeing underage Thai girls twirl around a pole in a go go bar is not the goal of my trip. I'm here to visit a relative, who moved to Pattaya six years ago. Today, I went to Viharnra Sien, a Thai/Chinese museum on the outskirts of Pattaya. It holds an amazing collection of Chinese bronzes, paintings and Buddhist statues. For the Eurodressage audience, I photographed some of the wonderful horse sculptures to be seen there. Enjoy
