Jessica Michel, Triple French Champion with Prime Time, Noble Dream, Riwera

Riwera The 2007 French Young Dressage Horse Championships were held during the "Grande Semaine" of dressage in Saumur, France, September 19-23, 2007, coincidingly with the CDI Saumur. The elegant young rider Jessica Michel became the triple champion, winning all national titles this year with three young horses: Prime Time, Noble Dream and Riwera (pictured).

In the 4-year old division, Michel was the undisputed winner aboard the black Hanoverian Prime Time (by Prince Thatch xx x Wenzel I). The black beauty was previously owned by the Danish Blue Hors, who purchased him in the auction for a record price of 580,000 euro. The stallion was returned to the Hanoverian verband when he proved to be infertile. Now, a year and a half later, he returns to the spotlight in the ownership of millionaire Xavier Marie of Haras de Hus in France. The reserve champions were Jean Noel Mychalysin on Wodan (Gribaldi x Pion).

Michel won the 5-year old class with the black Oldenburg mare Noble Dream (by Caprimond x Donnerhall). Owned by Laura Dallara, Noble Dream was already the bronze medallist at the 2007 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. In Saumur, she stayed undefeated after three rounds. Michel also won the reserve Champion's title with Xavier Marie's Oldenburg branded Daimler (by Don Davidoff x Davignon).

In the 6-year old division, Michel took highest honours with the Oldenburg mare Riwera (Welt Hit II x Noble Roi xx x Figaro). This bay mare is absolute world class in trot, but the canter work needs more clarity in the rhythm. Nevertheless, Riwera is an exceptional horse. She finished 20th in the Brilliant Ring at the 2004 Elite Mare Show in Rastede and was sold a few months later to Austrian Sissy Max-Theurer for 150,000 euro. The mare, however, did not live up to Max-Theurer's expectations and was returned to Germany where she got trained and competed by Kira Wulferding. Xavier Marie bought her and now under Jessica Michel she became the 2007 French Young Horse Champion. The runners-up were Jean Michel Aubry and the Dutch warmblood Ulan, a Gribaldi x Doruto offspring owned by Florence Letouzey.
