Absolute Record Prices at the 2005 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing Auction

Astronomical prices were paid for the 2,5 year old colts at the auction following the 2005 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden, Germany. An absolute all-time record price of 800,000 euro was paid for the licensing champion by the syndicate Paul Schockemohle and the Danish Blue Hors Stud. The stallion owner's duo purchased the winner of the 2005 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing, a dark bay Hofrat x De Niro son. The 800,000 euro purchase price shattered the previous record of 515,000 euro, which Doug and Louise Leatherdale paid for His Highness in 2002.

Schockemohle and Blue Hors had more cash to spend and invested into the reserve champion of the licensing as well. They bought the black Prince Thatch xx x Wenzel I offspring for 580,000 euro.

The Celle State Stud acquired the third premium stallion of the licensing, a chestnut Don Frederico x Lauries Crusador xx x Ataturk colt, for 415,000 euro. Celle bought five stallions in total at the licensing, including this year's show jumping licensing champion by Fighting Alpha.

A Dutch stallion owner bought a Furst Heinrich x Landadel x Vollkorn xx for 200,000 euro. British Emma Hindle of Brookhouse Stud purchased the fourth premium stallion, a Conteur x Pik Bube colt, for 190,000 euro. Gestut Vorwerk in Cappeln purchased the fifth premium stallion, a Lauries Crusador xx x Donnerhall offspring, for 105,000 euro.

The average price for a licensed stallion was 62,9933 euro. The twenty non-licensed stallions sold for an average price of 20,825 euro.
