Kathryn Moore, Audrey Hickey and Melanie Mackey
Qualify for 2003 European Pony Championships
Well
known show pony rider Kathryn Moore (pictured) from
Saintfield has qualified to represent Ireland at the
forthcoming Pony European Dressage Championships at
Necarne Castle.
Kathryn is one of only two pony dressage riders in
Ireland to reach the required standard, the other one
being Audrey Hickey with Ronald David from Blarney,
Co. Cork. To qualify Kathryn riding 'Chestons Promise'
had to gain 62% twice at Medium level at the Marlton
Stud Dressage Festival in Wicklow and as she was riding
in open classes against ponies and horses many thought
this was an impossible task. However the hard work and
preparation her and her trainer Lucy Adams put in paid
off as she gained the qualification standard in all
her three tests ending up top pony rider at the Festival.
With the pressure of qualification now out of the way
Kathryn will undergo a rigorous training program with
Lucy in the lead up to the Europeans, which are from
22nd to 27th July.
Third qualified Irish combination is Melanie Mackey
on Cairnearl Blue Falcon
Renee Stokes will be the Irish chef d'equipe at the
European Pony Championships next month.
We are sure both Kathryn and Audrey will do us proud.
Good Luck from Dressage Ireland.
