Welcome and Welt Hit II's Come Back on the Show
Scene
May 19, 2003
De
Havikerwaard breeding stallions Welcome and Welt Hit
II made their come back on the show scene this weekend
at the Dutch national dressage competition in Lisserbroek.
After a long break and a rider switch from Coby van
Baalen to young rider Bart Veeze, Welcome and Welt Hit
II started once again another chapter in their show
lives.
The Grand Prix trained stallion Welcome won the Prix
St Georges under Bart Veeze with a score of 68.25%.
Welt Hit II finished fourth in the same class with 64.38%.
"Welcome is a very solid horse. I trained with
Jan Peeters for a while to fine tune everything and
now he went super. I can learn so much from him,"
Veeze explained. Welt Hit surprised his rider in the
test and did not wait for Veeze's aids. He broke into
trot in the pirouette and there was an error in the
tempi's every four strides. Bart Veeze hadn't competed
for three years and seemedn quite nervous. "I have
to grow again into competition, but I'm really going
for it," Veeze said.
Bart Veeze took over the ride of Welcome and Welt Hit
II from Coby van Baalen who ended her contract with
De Havikerwaard in 2002. Back then, Coby took over the
ride of these two stallions from Swedish Ebba von Essen,
who had then taken it over from Leida Strijk.
Another
come back on the scene was made by 1999 Young Horse
World Champion Roval Investment. Coby van Baalen competed
the chestnut gelding, owned by Julie van Eeuwen, in
the Prix St Georges and finished second (67.50%) behind
Veeze on Welcome. The Intermediaire I was won by Yasmin
Kalkhuis aboard Arzberg ( by Accord II) with 66,13%.
Willem-Jan Schotte dominated the Intermediaire II on
Goubergh's Ideaal with 67,68%. In the Grand Prix, Jeanine
Fiechter scored a winning 65.62% on Exquis Rodenburg
Alabama (by Coriall) while Christa Laarakkers placed
second on Luzelma Slottie (v.Cabochon) with 65,42%.
