2003
Zwolle International Stallion Show
Ebba von Essen and Rambo
Finishing
second in the consolation finals of the Promising Stallion
Intermediaire I class were Swedish Ebba von Essen and
Rambo. With a score of 66.25%, Von Essen produced the
same mark as Martin Stamkotter and Rilke, but had to
let the winners of the class, Jeanette Haazen and the
Belgian warmblood Rockefeller van de Zelm, go ahead
of them.
Only a pair since 2002, Ebba von Essen seems to click
well with the approved Swedish warmblood stallion Rambo
910. Sired by Chapman out of Lacea (by elite stallion
Lansiar), Rambo descends from a famous Swedish line
of breed show champions. Rambo is bred and owned by
Ann & Torsten Pehrsson from Hörby, Sweden, and stands
only 16.1 1/2 hands high. Rambo made his dressage debut
on the international scene under Finnish rider Carmela
Nunmminen.
He competed in the 1997 Breeder's Trophy Six-year-old
Championships, winning the semi finals and finishing
seventh in the finals, which were won by Bjorsells Sack,
the 2003 Zwolle Best Stallion Champion. In the 1998
Falsterbo Kleber Cup for Seven year old dressage horses.
Rambo
has one licensed son, Dirigenten, also ridden by Von
Essen and owned by Rambo's breeder Ann and Thorsten
Pehrrson. Other Rambo offspring competing on the Swedish
dressage scene are for instance Fandango and Papin.
Ebba von Essen was a famous medal winning Swedish young
rider who made the transition to the big tour by moving
to The Netherlands to work for Stallion Station De Havikerwaard.
Ebba rode famous stallions there such as Welt Hit II
and Welcome, but left the stable in the autumn of 2000,
making room for Coby van Baalen as rider of the stallions.
Ebba's sister, Maria von Essen won individual bronze
at the European Junior Riders Championships in Hickstead.
Sister Angelie von Essen is a famous show jumper working
with Jan Tops in The Netherlands.
