German Team Vet Björn Nolting Says Bye Bye to Jumpers

The official German Team veterinarian Dr. Björn Nolting has announced that he will only be treating and supervising the German dressage horses in the future. With this statement, he ended his twenty-year career as team vet of the German show jumping horses.

In 1990, Nolting was appointed German team vet following the show jumping team closely at all international championships. However, the major doping affairs in the German Jumping team at the 2004 Olympic Games (Goldfever/Ludger Beerbaum) and 2008 Olympic Games (Cöster/Christian Ahlmann) made Nolting decide to call it quits. He will continue with the medical care of the dressage horses, which he took up in 2000.

The German Equestrian Federation communicated in a press release that the committees of both disciplines would prefer to continue working with Nolting. "I'm happy that I have trust from both sides, because I loved working for the dressage and show jumping riders. But after careful consideration, I decided to continue my co-operation only with dressage," Nolting stated.

Nolting will stay in function as jumper vet until the 2009 World Cup Finals in Las Vegas.
