Renaissance Fleur TSF Severely Injured
February 21, 2003
Renaissance
Fleur TSF, the Grand Prix horse with whom Monica Theodorescu
scored her personal record score only last weekend at
the CDI-W Neumunster, has been severely injured and
will probably never return to competition. On Wednesday
morning, Renaissance Fleur TSF broke out of her stall
and ran over the premises, where she slipped and fell
on the frozen soil, breaking her right lower leg.
Renaissance Fleur was immediately transported to the
veterinary clinic in Telgte, where she underwent surgery.
Fleur's right lower leg was completely shattered and
it took the vet team of Dr. Boenning three hours to
operate on it.
Monica Theodorescu is devastated, that the mare with
whom she finally booked world class successes, had to
experience such a tragic accident. "That is the
most terrrible thing a rider can experience with his
horse. Dr Boenning did his absolute best and give me
courage, but now we can only wait and see how the leg
heals."
The
11-year old Trakehner mare Renaissance Fleur TSF is
bred and owned by Elke von Lingelsheim from Rondershagen,
Germany. Von Lingelsheim also owns Fleur's sire Tuareg
who is currently stationed at Grönwohldhof and was named
Trakehner Stallion of the Year 2000. Silke Buck trained
Renaissance Fleur as a young horse and presented her
at the German Trakehner Championships in Koln. When
the mare turned five, she came into training with Monica
Theodorescu. Her first victories were achieved as a
seven-year old at Prix St Georges level. Last weekend,
Monica Theodorescu won the World Cup Qualifiers of Milan,
Maastricht and last Sunday in Neumunster by scoring
a record score of 79.44%.
