Dressage Task Force Conference Call Summary

Dejavu FBW The Dressage Task Force held a conference call on Thursday 7 May 2009. Following input from the FEI Nominations Committee the proposal for the composition of the FEI Dressage Committee has been forwarded to the Bureau for their feedback.

The proposal recommends a Dressage Committee comprised of five members; two of whom (the riders representative and the organisers representative) will be nominated by their respective associations and the other three members nominated by either the National Federations or from other FEI recognised stakeholder groups (the latter must also be supported by the candidate’s relevant NF).

This proposal is in line with the FEI Statutes and, subsequent to FEI Bureau approval, will be sent out to NFs and stakeholder groups in order to start the process of nominating candidates.

Together with other FEI Technical Committees, membership of the new Dressage Committee will be approved during the FEI General Assembly, held in Copenhagen in November 2009.

During the conference call the Task Force also discussed issues surrounding the education of judges and judging systems. This follows a recent meeting with representatives of ice-skating and gymnastics. A number of ideas were discussed which require further on-going research and information in order to establish their suitability and applicability to dressage.

It was agreed that all systems would be tested in a pilot project before the Task Force present their final report to the Bureau in November. The Task Force intend to hold their next conference call on 20th May. Subject to these proposals being sufficiently developed it is then hoped that they can be sent to all stakeholder groups for their feedback.
