Vorwerk's Santander H Sold to Austria
November 24, 2003
Gestut
Vorwerk sold their breeding stallion Santander H to
Austria. New home of this licensed Oldenburg sire is
stallion station Winter in Rudersdorf, Austria. Heinz
and Ingrid Winter purchased Santander H from Gudula
Vorwerk-Happ to create a strong presence in the Austrian
breeding world.
Santander H is a show jumping sire by Sandro out of
California (by Contender x Usurpator xx). He was the
1997 Reserve Champion of the Main Premium in Oldenburg.
His first approved son from his first crop, Socarron
(out of a Consul/Trak. dam), received the Ic Premium
Stallion prize in Oldenburg and was sold for DM 400,000.
Santander H has won many jumping horse tests up to intermediate
level under Pico Hannöver.
Vorwerk sold Santander H because they no longer want
to focus on show jumping stallions: " If we want
to keep our stallions at their present level in dressage,
jumper stallions just don't have much chance here and
get left in the shadows," Gudula explained. "Trying
to run on two tracks at the same time – dressage
and jumping – is just not a good idea and would
only water our success."
