Gigolo van de Padenborre, Champion of the 2009 BWP Stallion Licensing

 The 3-year old bay Belgian warmblood colt Gigolo van de Padenborre has been proclaimed champion of the 2009 BWP Stallion Licensing held in Moorsele, Belgium. The stallion headed a field of 33 licensed stallions which are allowed to move on to the stallion performance test.
Gigolo van de Padenborre is bred by Erwin de Wolf and presented by Andre Leemans. This muscled stallion is by Quidam de Revel out of a Chin Chin dam. The champion was not the prettiest with his conformation, but stood out in his jumping potential. The stallion sold to the Dutch Joop van Uytert and Egbert Schep.
Five stallions made it into the premium ring. Besides the champion those were Gorki van Sonnevanck (by Breemeersen Adorado x Pavarotti van de Helle), Gambo van den Opstal (by Chicago Z x Canadian River), Gondor-Gucci van het Burghof (by Wandor van de Mispelaere x Gottwald) and Gonzales (by Winningmood van de Arenberg x Calypso d'Herbiers).
 The lamentable state of the Belgian warmblood dressage breeding program was once again proven as no BWP bred stallions were presented at the licensing. The BWP society has absolutely no dressage policy, discouraging Belgian breeders to choose for dressage and present their offspring with the BWP. At their is no light at the end of the tunnel!
Five non-BWP bred stallions were approved: four well moving IPS owned Dutch warmblood horses and one show jumping bred Holsteiner accepted for dressage (!!!!). Can it be any more farcical than that?
The BWP ambassadors of the year are Pavarotti van de Helle (by Pilot x Direx) and his jumper son Quintus (by Pavarotti x Garitchou). Pavarotti has proven himself to be quite a versatile producer with the late Grand Prix horse Paganini as his most famous offspring.
