Heverlee - Fifteen Belgian warmblood branded stallions
made it through the final third phase. Thirty-one stallions
passed the first selection day mid January and were
allowed to present themselves under saddle for a jumping
and rideability test. From the final amount, five stallions
are to be re-inspected, including Jumpy des Fontaines
(Jus de Pommes x Ramiro/ owner Gert Jan van Olst) who
is currently doing his 70-day stallion test in Ermelo,
The Netherlands. Also put on hold were Union Jack van
de Zuuthoeve (Narcos II), Alibi de Laubry (Acobat II),
Uranus van 't Muiken (Wundermeyer) and Urga (Billy du
Lys).
The
BWP studbook is not famous for its dressage stallions
and this year it only entered three young sires. As dressage
in Belgium is pretty much in the same developing stage
as Canada, breeders are reluctant to pick dressage oriented
stallions. However, thanks to the introduction of the
famous Oldenburg (mainly Vorwerk) stallions into our country,
we can expect more promising dressage talents in the future.
Three dressage stallions made it into the BWP studbook
and that were Uranus (who will be re-inspected first),
and the three year old Oldenburger black Don Renoir (Donnerhall
x Renoir) owned by Wilfried Cerpentier and Georges de
Roeck. Pavarotti van de Helle was again presented for
the BWP association and virtually automatically accepted
thanks to the successes of his descendants. Eight three
year old and six four year old show jumping stallions
received a breeding license. They are the following:
