Top Ranked Riders Meet at 2009 CDI-W Amsterdam

Jan Brink on BriarThe sixth Western European League World Cup qualifier is set to take stage in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, this week. After Odense, Stockholm, London, Frankfurt and Mechelen, Amsterdam will gather Europe's best riders to battle for valuable world cup points.

The two perpetual rivals, Isabell Werth and Anky van Grunsven, are facing each other again in Amsterdam, though both will be riding their second Grand Prix horses Warum Nicht FRH and Painted Black. Yet, it is going to be Dutch Adelinde Cornelissen who will be breathing down their necks as winner of already three qualifiers! Further high ranked riders entered to compete are Emma Hindle, Laura Bechtolsheimer, Kyra Kyrklund, Hans Peter Minderhoud, Jan Brink and Nathalie Zu Saeyn-Wittgenstein.

Jumping Amsterdam has increased the prize money for dressage this year. Furthermore, the show is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. “We have a great history and it’s fantastic to look back to the past, to all memorable editions we have had,” said show irector Titia Heijbrock. “It’s great to look back at the memorable winners Hans Günther Winkler, Paul and Alwin Schockemöhle, Nelson Pessoa, David Broome and Hugo Simon Amsterdam has celebrated. We have had emotional farewell scenes of incredible horses like Jumbo Design, Bonfire and De Sjiem. We have been able to celebrate Royal visits and the World Cup™ Final Dressage in 2006."
