German Pony Team Announced

With the results at hand of the final German selection trial at the CDI-P Freudenberg, German pony chef d'equipe Cornelie Endres was able to announce the team that will represent Germany at the 2009 European Pony Championships in Moorsele, Belgium, July 29 - August 3, 2009.

The German team consists of:

• Sönke Rothenberger - Deinhard B
• Bianca Nowag - Der feine Lord
• Katharina Weychert - Golden Derano
• Grete Linnemann - Cinderella
• Reserve Rider:
  • Florine Kienbaum - Fredriksbergs Mozart

"This year the kur to music will be ridden for the first time at the European Championships," Endres commented. "This means that we included the test in our selection process. And I have to say, the kids really enjoyed it and showed great flexibility for this test.

Many people speculated on the fourth German team place with Grete Linnemann, Florine Kienbaum, Carlotta Hassenburger, and Viktoria Braun as candidates for the spot. The 12-year old Linnemann was favoured by Endres and obtained the team spot with her 6-year old pony mare Cinderella.

"The pair is still very young," Endres acknowledged, "but their form has been improving rapidly this year."
