2009 Bundeschampionate Qualifier
Johannes Westendarp and Hoftanz Win Hagen Bundeschampionate Qualifier

 Johannes Westendarp and the Hanoverian branded stallion Hoftanz have won the Bundeschampionate qualification class at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, Germany, today. The show in Hagen is an international junior and young riders competition, but it also featured international show jumping classes, national dressage classes and a foal championship.
Westendarp and the 5-year old black pearl Hoftanz (by His Highness x Rotspon x Weltmeyer) scored 8.3 to take the lead in a field of 22 competitors. The Oldenburg and Danish warmblood society approved Hoftanz was purchased at the Oldenburg stallion licensing auction by Danish Lne Boegh Henriksen for 120,000 euro. Hoftanz was presented at the licensing by Westendarp who has maintained the training and managing of this breeding stallion ever since. The black stallion showed outstanding basic gaits. He was very rhythmical in trot, ground covering in the walk and uphill and active in canter. The highlight of the test was probably the contact with the bit which was always light and steady at the vertical.
 PSI in house rider Insa Hansen and the chestnut Hanoverian Londontown placed second. The Londonderry x Lungau offspring received an 8.2 score from the panel of judges, including Hans Biß, Klaus-Dieter Holtz, and Dierck Wardenburg. The French dressage rider Caroline Meriaux, who is currently based at Hof Kasselmann for training, ranked third with the Trakehner stallion Donaugold (by Distelzar). Meriaux was in the lead for quite some time with her 8.1 score but settled for third place in the end.
