Stress at the 2006 WEG Veterinary Inspection

The veterinary inspection always has that a moment of stress for riders competing in a CDI or big championships. Nothing different at the 2006 World Equestrian Games. The horses of the American team passed with flying colours, as well as the Dutch horses, though Hexagon's Olright had to trot up twice.

Swedish team rider Patrik Kittel did not present his Dallmayer's Promodo at the inspection because of lameness and reserve rider Kristian von Krusenstierna and Wilson were promoted into the Swedish team. During the job, however, Wilson did not present himself fully fit and he'll have to come back for reinspection tomorrow morning.

Ukrainian horse Areal (rider Yuriy Kovshov) was referred to the holding box.

The horse inspections began at noon, and the US team was first in. The set-up was pretty interesting with bleachers filled with photographers and media, as well as teammates, fans and even judges. Each horse was given an introduction on the public address system before their jog, including bloodlines, owner, rider, and so on.
