American Team Selected for the 2006 World Equestrian Games

Guenter SeidelThe United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) has announced the American dressage team that will represent the U.S.A. at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany.

U.S. Team Coach Klaus Balkenhol has finally made his decision on which rider will be the fourth member of the team. All team horses were thoroughly vet checked on Monday at Balkenhol's stable in Rosendahl, Germany, and the official team was announced yesterday evening.

The U.S. Dressage Team includes:

  • Debbie McDonald, riding Brentina, a 15-year-old Hanoverian mare, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Parry Thomas;
  • Leslie Morse, riding Tip Top 962, a 12-year-old Swedish Warmblood stallion, owned by Leslie Morse;
  • Steffen Peters, riding Floriano, a 16-year-old Westphalian gelding, owned by Stephen Browning and Laurelyn Browning;
  • Guenter Seidel, riding Aragon, a 14-year-old Bavarian Warmblood gelding, owned by Richard and Jane Brown

The reserve riders are:

  • 1st Alternate - Catherine Haddad based in Vechta, Germany, riding Maximus JSS, a 12-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, owned by the Janet Schneider Trust;
  • 2nd Alternate - Arlene Page of Wellington, FL, riding Wild One, a 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding, owned by Arlene Page;
  • 3rd Alternate - Heather Blitz of Palm City, FL, riding Arabella, a 10-year-old Danish Warmblood mare, owned by Denise Arroyo;
  • 4th Alternate - Suzanne Dansby-Phelps of Atlanta, GA, riding Cooper, a 14-year-old Holsteiner gelding, owned by Suzanne Dansby-Phelps
