2005 World Cup Finals

Evi Strasser Fills Up Werth's Vacant Slot on Entry List

April 21, 2005

Evi Strasser and Quantum TymeCanadian Evi Strasser will be filling up Isabell Werth's vacant slot on the entry list after Werth withdrew her horse Antony FRH from competition in Las Vegas. Strasser will be riding her number one Grand Prix horse Quantum Tyme, an Oldenburg gelding by Quattro x Argentinus, with whom she performed excellently in the Canadian World Cup League Finals and U.S. League Finals in California.

Eurodressage correspondent Lita Dove reported that Antony FRH was indeed slightly lame on Tuesday during the first trot up. On Wednesday morning, the horse was even more off. "Isabell shrugged and said there was no way he could compete like that," Dove wrote. "He was fine when he left, otherwise I wouldn't have brought him," Werth told Dove.

The German Equestrian Federation reported that Isabell Werth withdrew Antony after consenting with the German team vet Bjorn Nolting, who diagnosed an injury to Antony's fetlock.

"This should have been Antony's "Good Bye Tour," but the health of my horse is more important. That's why we decided not to compete him," Werth said in an official statement.
