Canadian Momentum Builds at CDI*** Schindlhof
July 30, 2003
Christilot
Boylen and Belinda Trussell have raised the bar again
with outstanding performances at the CDI Fritzens in
Austria. Seven time Olympian, Christilot Boylen, and
2002 World Equestrian Games team member, Belinda Trussell,
put in outstanding performances at CDI*** Schindlhof,
July 25 to 27, generating a buzz of excitement and putting
Canadians in a strong position heading into Hickstead
England for the Open European Dressage Championships,
August 13 to 17.
Boylen, riding her 12 year old Hanoverian mare, Lucky
Lemon, began the weekend with a 66.78% sixth place finish
in the Intermediare II. She followed with a score of
67.29% and 12th place in a field of 36 riders in the
Grand Prix and, on the final day, rose to the top of
the competition with 69.60% and a second place finish
in the Grand Prix Special.
Trussell, whose recent Grand Prix sweeps in CDI***
Cincinnati and CDI*** Port Jervis have made her a rider
to watch, achieved a career high this weekend aboard
her 13 year old Oldenburg gelding, Royan ll, with a
66.63% ninth place finish in the Intermediare ll, a
67.96% 10th place finish in the Grand Prix and, rounding
out the competition, 67.94% and a ninth place finish
in the Grand Prix Freestyle.
"CDI*** Schindlhof presented an excellent opportunity
for us to compete in advance of Hickstead," noted Boylen.
"Both Royan ll and Lucky Lemon were in superb form and
it was great to receive such a positive response to
our rides."
"We look forward to joining our Canadian team-mates,
Ashley Holzer and Shannon Dueck, in Hickstead and to
catching up on their recent successes," added Trussell.
"I am certainly proud to be part of such a strong and
talented team heading into the European Championships."
