British Junior and Young Riders Team Announced
July 14, 2003
Britain's
final selection trial, "Go for Gold" has taken place
at Addington Manor, England and team riders have been
named. To be put forward for the selection trial riders
have already had to prove themselves in the competition
arena both at compulsory shows and at shows abroad.
The Junior and Young Rider teams, to compete at Saumur,
France will be assisted by Mrs Jennie Loriston-Clarke
(herself the owner of Catherston Humbug and an international
judge) and Mrs Caroline Griffith. Team trainer will
be Mr Henk van Bergen and Team Vet will be Mr John McEwan.
The trailblazer for the junior team will be Laura Bechtolsheimer
and Placido who have lead junior competitions all season.
All the other junior combinations are relatively new
and inexperienced. However, they have been trained well
and will strive forward with great confidence.
The young rider team is the strongest of the British
teams, as all horses and riders have a wealth of international
competition experience behind them. Charlotte Edmonds
and Jodie Lister are making their last U21 European
appearances. All the team members, both horses and riders,
have been members of numerous teams before. Catherston
Humbug and Argentille Gullit have both competed for
Britain as Grand Prix horses with senior riders.
