German Young Horse Championships
Poetin, a Russian Tsarina
Poetin,
a 3-year-old Brandenburg bred mare, named after the
current President of Russia, was heralded as best young
dressage horse running at the entire 2000 Bundeschampionate.
Sired by Sandro Hit out a Brentano II dam, Poetin was
presented by Hanoverian master Heinz-Heinrich Meyer
zu Strohen. The three best horses of the 3-year-old
mare class were to be ridden by the two guest riders,
namely Susanne Miesner and Wolfgang Schmidt-Heinen.
It was obvious that Poetin dominated her class. Owned
by the Berlin/Brandeburg State Stud, Poetin is a true
reflection of her father Sandro Hit: elegance, rhythm
and power. Thanks to her perfect conformation (score
9.0), the mare moves like the best. The judges believed
that the walk was her least gait and gave her 'only'
a 8.5, but in trot the mare absolutely excelled (9.0),
while her uphill canter (9.0) made the audience go "ah".
The only minor point about this mare was that tension
built up regularly, so that in walk, for instance, she
became a little short on occassion.
