1999
Preis der Besten, Warendorf (Germany)
German Young Riders "Best of the Best"
At
the first German Pony, Junior and Young Riders qualifier
in Warendorf, Westfalen, young rider Nadine Maiwurm
won the "Preis der Besten". Her 12 year old Westphalian
Don Fredde Robinson (by Damocles x Pilot) guided her
to a 2,710 grand total. In 1996 Nadine was already winner
in the junior riders division. Chef d'Equipe Holger
Schmezer was very enthusiastic about this combination:
"Robinson showed great extensions, but his flying changes
still need to improve." Last year Maiwurm was ranked
5th at the European Young Riders' Championships, and
this year her medal chances will definitely increase.
New comer Christine von Oldershausen placed second with
the Holsteiner Amica Farina (by Ahorn Z). Third place
was covered by the 1998 Reserve European YR Champion
Astrid Buer with the Hanoverian What Joy (by World Cup
I). "Of the 25 participants at the Warendorf show, half
of them scored above 65%; 1999 will show that the German
Young Riders are the Best of the Best," Schmezer commented.
In the Junior Riders division 1997 European Pony Champion
Nicholas Kroncke led with his Holsteiner stallion Larso
by Liostro. Yvonne Peschel and the Russian Trakehner
Dressman followed with a 22 point difference. Jan Andreas
and Astolfi came in third. Nicholas sister, Kira Kroncke,
presented five times Gold medal winner Dressman
in the pony division. The experienced chestnut stallion
could only but win. Marie Jager came in second with
the palomino stallion Golden Dancer. Eva Marie Sprehe
was third with Cash and Go. The complete pony top five
was filled with European Championship ponies. Dressman
won several times the golden team medal under Desiree
Schurf, Golden Dancer was individual champion in 1996
under Jana Kun and Cash and Go won the silver medal
under Svenja Meyer in 1998.
