What's
Happening in the Dressage World?
On August 10, 2002, Greta Klimke was born in
the Clemens Hospital of Munster, Germany. Parents to
the 3.330 kilograms weighing baby are German eventing
rider Ingrid Klimke and husband Andreas Busacker. Greta
was named after her great aunt Grete Klimke, sister
to the renowned dressage legend Dr Reiner Klimke.
Our dear friends from Horsemagazine
reported the following news:
"Drama on way to Plane! Australian dressage squad
horse, Aphrodite was injured in Sydney getting
loaded on the plane to Europe, when the horse sharing
the pallet with her, and Stirling Stilton went crazy.
Abby's eye was cut quite badly and the other horse was
removed, leaving a nice big pallet for Abby and Stilts
to share, and the IHB vet on the flight did a lovely
job stitching up the cut. It is hoped that no real damage
has been done and that Abby and Rachael can continue
their campaign to Jerez."
Dutch young rider and European silver medallist Joyce
Heutinck injured herself severely during a group
training session. Riding one of her younger horses,
Heutinck lost her balance when her youngster spooked
and ran away bucking. "I didn't fall that hard,"
Heutinck said, "but I fell in between two other
horses who trampled me. Fortunately I was wearing a
helmet. It had one huge scratch, so I can not imagine
what would have happened if I hadn't worn it."
Heutinck injured her neck and fingers and will be out
for a couple of weeks.
