Sarah Garayhi and Scarlatti
January 21, 2003
Scarlatti,
the white wonder of the dressage ring. Although Sarah
Garayhi and Scarlatti have manifested themselves in
the Grand Prix show arena for several years now, the
combination seems to be ready for an apex this 2003
show season. Scoring high in the LVM Grand Prix Championship
Finale at the prestigeous Rolinck Cup national dressage
competition in Munster, Germany, Sarah Garayhi and Scarlatti
finished third in the Finals.
With 68.83% in the Grand Prix (2nd place) and 70.20%
in the Grand Prix Special (3rd place), Garayhi and Scarlatti
are on their way of becoming a pair to be reckoned with
on the German dressage scene. Scarlatti, who is praised
for his movements, scoring 10s regularly in the extended
trot, is a 12-year old Hessian licensed breeding stallion.
Bred by Karl Willer from Schwalmstadt, Germany, Scarlatti
is by Silvano N out of Penelope (by Cardinal xx). In
1993, Scarlatti became the Reserve Champion of the Hessian
Stallion Licensing, but Karl Willer did not sell the
dapple grey stallion yet.
Through
Garayhi's former trainer Herbert Rehbein, Garayhi later
discovered Scarlatti and the horse was purchased by
Garayhi's sponsor Dietrich Poburski. Since 1999, Scarlatti
and Garayhi were a successful Grand Prix pair in Germany,
booking top results in Neumunster, Lubeck and Bad Segeberg.
"Scarlatti is a very sensitive, sensible horse.
He's very loose and willing. He always wants to do his
best," Garayhi commented. Under the supervision
of Uwe Sauer, Garayhi made the transition from Intermediaire
I to Grand Prix. Not only successful in the dressage
ring, but also in breeding, Scarlatti produced the 1997
Hessian Licensing Champion Siciliano W (Scarlatti x
Freigraf). Dietrich Poburski bought Siciliano W and
Garayhi rode him at the 1999 South-Germany Riding Horse
Championships, finishing third.
