January 27, 2004
Britain's hope for the 2004 dressage show season lies on the shoulders of the German based Emma Hindle. An international Grand Prix competitor since 1999 with Hanoverian stallion Wie Weltmeyer, Emma had to wait until 2003 to make her first serious break through at the top. Besides winning several World Cup Qualifying classes, Hindle became the the 2003 Woof Wear Grand Prix Rider Rankings winner in Great Britain and her chestnut mount Wie Weltmeyer was named BEIB Dressage Horse of the Year. For 2004, Hindle has to take on the leader's role in the British Dressage Team, which qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
Emma began riding at the age of five, showing working hunter ponies and eventing before concentrating on Dressage. She trained for seven years with Steven Clarke, then moved to Sweden where she worked and trained with Kyra Kyrklund for a further five years.
Since 1998 Emma has been based in Germany with Ellen Bontje and Conrad Schumacher. Emma now also trains with Jurgen Koschel. Emma has been competing at international level for more than ten years. She has represented Great Britain both as a pony rider, with Camdown Curlew, and as a Young Rider with Nibikus and Boucheron. Emma represented GB at senior major championship level for the first time in 2003.
