Dirk Caremans and Astrid Appels on duty in Arnhem

Two Belgian news reporters were on duty at the 1999 European Dressage Championships in Arnhem, The Netherlands. Equestrian photographer Dirk Caremans was mainly there to cover the event for Belgian news magazines Hippo Revue and Paardekracht, while the young news reporter Astrid Appels came to Arnhem to assist American photographer Mary Phelps during her Euro Tour.

The 18 year old Appels is the youngest journalist in the equestrian field and writes for Hippo Revue, Hoefslag and the Canadian Cadora INK. Mary Phelps took this picture of the two Belgian Press officers on duty during the Kur to Music on Sunday. Images of Arnhem are now online on Dirk's website at http://www.hippofoto.be
