STOLEN: Two Young Mares Stolen from Field in Osnabruck Area

Editor's Note: The same evening after the publication of this article, Gerd Borcherding received an anonimous phone call which led to the discovery of both horses. The horses were retrieved in the Neunkirchen area in small field near a very old farm. The police helped in bringing both horses back to their ecstatic owners!

Two young horses have been stolen from a field in Hesepe, Germany, close to the Thiener Feld. It concerns a 2-year old bay Hanoverian mare and her companion, a Westfalian mare. The two fillies were stolen from a herd of 15 youngsters in the field on the Alfhausener Straße on Friday October 24, 2008. Owner Thorsten Derichsweiler and horse breeder Gerd Borcherding are shocked by this theft and are rewarding 8000 euro for the person who can give the tip that lead to the recovery of his horses.

It concerns Raffaella, a Hanoverian mare by Rascalino x Longchamp. The bay mare stands 1,65 m and has with the Hanoverian brand on the left hind quarter with the number 07 underneath it. Her most striking feature is her irregular stripe on her face but she also has white markings on her left legs and a clear scar on her belly near the girth area. She is owned by Thorsten Derichsweiler.

The second stolen mare is Con Gioia (by Concreto x Großadmiral) and has the Westfalian brand with number 79 underneath. She has small white markings on her left front foot and stands 1,62m. This mare is owned by Stefanie Dresch who is devastated because of the robbery.

Witnesses have seen a white van with dark logo on the side with an opened white trailer round 16 hour close to the field where the horses were.

The owners and the Borcherding family reward 8,000 euro for the person who can help him bring back the two horses. If you have any information regarding this theft please contact:
