IDRC Expresses Concern about High Entry Fees

In the wake of Eurodressage's "Bribes for Entry" editorial, the International Dressage Riders Club has notified us that they are also working together with the FEI concerning the high entry fees demanded for the European Junior and Young Riders at last year's European Championships in Nussloch, Germany.

The IDRC has submitted a letter to the FEI Dressage Committee in which they address its concern about these high entry fees. At the 2007 European Junior and Young Riders Championships the entry fee was 1,275 € per rider, which the IDRC considers "prohibitively expensive." In order for the Euro championships to remain accessible to many national federations and riders, the IDRC proposes to an upper limit of 850€ for the entry fee as of 2008.

To keep the sport accessible to less wealthy riders as well as to smaller dressage nations which are financially not so strong, it is imperative that the entry fees are kept affordable.
