Dutch Team Selection Criteria Toughened

December 22, 2009

Diederik van Silfhout with Vorst DThe Dutch Equestrian Federation has toughened the criteria for team selection based on recommendations by team trainers Sjef Janssen (seniors) and Tineke Bartels (youth riders). The new criteria will be effective as of 1 January 2010.

More riders are able to achieve the criteria to be submitted into the A- and B-team which is the reason why these standards will be sharpened. The current Dutch A and B-teams are bigger than usual which makes it harder to train and educate all team members optimally.

The senior Grand Prix riders will need to score 71,000% three times within six months at a selection event. One of these scores has to be achieved in the Grand Prix test at a CDI event. Three times 69,000% is the level to enter the B-team.

Tineke Bartels has toughened the criterium for the junior and young riders. A-team riders need to be able to score 68,000% three times, while they will get on the B-team with three 66,000% scores. The criteria for pony riders remain unaltered.

Members of all teams need to requalify themselves after 9 months according to the new criteria.
