Anky van Grunsven Expecting a Baby

Sjef Janssen and Anky van GrunsvenAnky van Grunsven and her partner Sjef Janssen are expecting a baby. Van Grunsven kept the news a secret until after the Olympic Games. She has been pregnant for 18 weeks and an echo was made prior to the Games. The baby is growing well and is expected to be born in January 2005.

The news that Van Grunsven is pregnant is the second major suprise and source of happiness in her life in a very short period of time. Anky announced her four month pregnancy to her friends at the Holland House in Athens where she celebrated as a Dutch Olympic gold medallist after she won her second, consecutive gold medal at an Olympic Games.

Anky's Olympic gold medal winning mount Salinero arrived home from Athens on August 28. Anky has ridden him again and he's feeling fresh and frisky. Her reserve horse Krack C was lunged by Anne van Uytert during the Olympics.
