Anky van Grunsven Recovering Well and Ready to Go

May 8, 2003

Dutch Grand Prix rider Anky van Grunsven is recovering well from the multiple bone fracture in her leg she sustained after being bucked off Gestion Joker on January 17, 2003. Van Grunsven walked with crutches for almost five months and had to undergone heavy fysiotheraphy on a home trainer.

Doctors have now determined that Van Grunsven's leg has recovered sufficiently so that she can walk with one crutch and start supporting the leg more. Anky has planned to do her first riding again on Gestion Bonfire in a few weeks as she trusts "Bonnie" 100%. Sjef Janssen said that "it will take some time for her to get back into her old routine, but we're fortunate that she can start training again."
