Dutch Team Selected
for 2001 European Dressage Championships

Dressage Chef d'Equipe Jurgen Koschel announced his
team for the 2001 European Dressage Championships in
Verden the first week of August. The Dutch team consists
in Anky van Grunsven with her current number one Grand
Prix horse Gestion Idool (KWPN, by Maykel), Arjen Teeuwissen
with Gestion Goliath (KWPN, by Zebulon), Gonnelien Rothenberger
with Jonggor's Weijden (Hanoverian, by Western Star)
and Ellen Bontje with Gestion Silvano N (Holsteiner,
by Silvester). Sonja Gademann with the KWPN bred Olympic
Jup (by Democraat) is the reserve combination
Arjen Teeuwissen's first appearance after the Olympic
Games in Sydney were postponed until the CDI Arnhem.
Goliath pulled a tendon in November and needed a long
recovery period to get back into international show
shape. At Champion Gelderland the bay gelding immediately
impressed in his new freestyle (composed by Ali Schonberg)
which scored 79%
Coby van Baalen was unable to ride the qualifiers with
Olympic Ferro as the black stallion has been injured
for more than half a year now.
