The Medien Cup is calling – Everyone Will Be in Mönchengladbach!

June 30, 2009

Damon Hill NRWTop professional riders like Carola Koppelmann and Gina Capellmann-Lüttkemeier, Olympic riders like British Emma Hindle, Marion Engelen, member of the Junior Dressage Prospect Group and former four-times team gold medal winning European Pony Champion, and top-class amateurs like Michael Klimke: the Medien Cup invites them all to compete at the third qualification of the season, at the Palace Grounds Tournament in Mönchengladbach (July 9 – 12) – and everyone will be there!

Within two years, Medien Cup has been developing into an exclusive dressage series for Germany’s best young Grand Prix-horses. It is a series for the Championship stars of tomorrow.

The 12 best horse-rider-duos can attend the Finale in Münster after four qualifying competitions in total. This year, Medien Cup celebrated its debut at the end of April in Hagen, and three duos already qualified for the Finale there: El Santo under Isabell Werth, Damon Hill under Ingrid Klimke and Donelly under Hubertus Schmidt. Patrick Kittel with Tellwell, Anja Plönzke with Le Mont d’Or and Katrin Bettenworth with Django Edwards complemented the group of finalists during the second qualifying competition in Wiesbaden.

I could tell many reasons why Medien Cup goes perfectly with our Palace Grounds Tournament,” Ilja Waßenhoven, manager of the hosting Breeding, Riding and Driving Club Wickrath comments. “On the one hand, because we focus on presenting excellent riders and scopey horses in a special atmosphere. And on the other hand, because dressage sport has lots to do with aesthetic. And this simply matches our Club and the Palace Grounds.”

Medien CupLike for all other MedienCup locations, the Internet broadcasting station cpm24.tv will broadcast live from the Wickrath Palace Grounds. Apart from the opening competition and the final Medien Cup qualification, cpm24.tv will also broadcast all other dressage and show jumping classes held on the Palace Grounds – and for example also guest star Joey Kelly. The TV-star, musician and extreme sportsman who loves jogging 160 km through Alaska at minus 20° or 250 km through the Gobi Desert, will also compete in Wickrath: In Jump&Drive, he will not be riding, but driving.

July 9 - 12: all competitions of the Palace Grounds Tournament Mönchengladbach live and bilingual on www.cpm24.tv.
