Petra Stroetmann Not to Compete at Nurnberg Burgpokal Finals

December 14, 2005

Petra Epping on WellingtonPetra Stroetmann-Epping will not be competing in the 2005 Nurnberg Burgpokal Finals in Frankfurt next weekend. On Friday December 9, Stroetmann had an accident with a young horse and broke her leg. She will not be able to ride for several weeks and, therefore, had to withdraw from riding in Frankfurt.

Last Friday, Stroetmann fell off her 5-year old Rudolf (Royal Diamond x Plaisir d'Amour) during a training session. Rudolf slipped on a wet patch in the footing and both rider and horse fell, causing Petra to break her leg.

"Petra is very disappointed that she can't ride the Nurnberg finals, because it's a very special show. But we are all happy that nothing worse happened in this accident," one of Petra's clients told Eurodressage.

Stroetmann had qualified Weinzauber (by Weinberg x Upan la Jarte AA) for the 2005 Nurnberg Burgpokal Finals in Frankfurt, and also planned on competing Fancy Free (Falkland x Imperator) there.
