The 2004 Otto Lörkepreis went to Alexandra Simons-De Ridder's Wellington, a 1995 born Hanoverian gelding by Wanderer x Garibaldi II. Wellington is owned by Hans Peter Simons and trained by Antonie de Ridder.

Wellington's biggest achievements in 2004 were a second place in the CDIO Grand Prix in Saumur, France, and many national placings in Germany. In previous years, Wellington won the small tour at the 2003 CDI Barzago and at the 2002 CDI Bremen.
