Amidou Passed Away

The Holsteiner licensed stallion Amidou passed away at the Equine Clinic in Telgte, Germany. At the 2004 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf September 3, 2004, the dark bay stallion suddenly became severely ill and was immediately transported to the clinic, suffering from high fever. The stallion never really recuperated and stayed in the clinic for five weeks. He passed away on Saturday October 2, 2004.

"We had an autopsy done on Amidou, but it didn't really reveal anything," Amidou's rider Dr. Ulf Möller said. "the horse suffered from a severe viral infection and after five weeks he was just empty. He had no more strength left to fight the virus."

Aboard Amidou, Dr Ulf Möller won the bronze medal at the 2004 World Championships for Young Horses in Verden, Germany. Möller heard about Amidou's passing at Dressage at Devon and was visibly struck by the death of his horse. "It's always the good ones that die, never the average ones," a saddened Möller said.

Amidou was a 5-year old licensed Holsteiner stallion by Alcatraz x Langata Express xx. He was owned by Ullrich Kasselmann and stood up for stud at Paul Schockemohle's station.

Eurodressage did not report any sooner on Amidou's passing as Hof Kasselmann, specifically requested us to wait until the mysterious cause of death was investigated.
