Chacomo Put Down
The
story that the top Holsteiner dressage horse Chacomo
had been humanly put down mid November 2001 caused quite
a stir on the dressage scene, as later it was announced
that owners Alexandra and Ton de Ridder had only decided
to retire their number one Grand Prix horse. The reason
of the retirement were inoperable tumors between the
lungs and stomach of the bay gelding.
However, now the couple who owned and trained Chacomo
have decided to put down their favorite horse anyway.
Chacomo suffered too much from his illness and even
a calm retirement in the fields of Ton de Ridder's parents-in-law
could not bring peace and happiness to the horse. Chacomo
was put down begin December 2001 which means that the
dressage world lost one of its best horses ever.
