Second FEI Judge’s Course at Olympia Hailed Huge Success
December 19, 2009
On 16th December 2009 British Dressage welcomed 28 candidate and international level dressage judges to the London International Horse Show, Olympia to take part in a two day judge’s course with Dr. Dieter Schüle, centred around the FEI dressage World Cup qualifier competition.
An introduction and welcome was given by FEI Director of Dressage Trond Asmyr before international ‘O’ judge and FEI Dressage committee member Dr. Dieter Schüle stepped up to host the main programme. Few people are more respected in the world of top judging than Schüle and the clarity of his presentation brought the subject alive to the course participants. He gave live commentary to the delegates via radio headset throughout the Grand Prix and Kür performances and also led various theoretical classroom sessions to help further the learning experience.
His teachings were supported by fellow O judge Katerina Wuest, also from Germany, who alongside her judging commitments at the show, gave an enlightening session on judging freestyle on the Wednesday afternoon. Participants attended from more than 13 nationalities including Sweden, Israel, Romania, Switzerland, Canada, Austria, Croatia, Germany, Spain, Costa Rica, Bulgaria, Estonia and the UK.
British Dressage Chief executive Amanda Bond commented: “This year’s course builds on the success of the event we held last year and Olympia as always provided some wonderful competition for the delegates to discuss. We are honoured to host such an important seminar for the FEI and hope that this will become a regular fixture on the FEI training calendar. Being able to host such a prestigious event puts British Dressage firmly on the map and further demonstrates our increasing prominence as a dressage nation on the world stage.”
