Polka Hit Nexen in Training with Andreas Helgstrand
April 1, 2009
Danish equestrian magazine Ridehesten.com reported that the silver medallist of the 2008 World Young Horse Championships, Polka Hit Nexen, has a new rider. The bay Danish warmblood mare by Sandro Hit x Tempelwind xx will be trained and competed by Andreas Helgstrand.
The mare was previously trained and ridden to international success by Dorthe Sjobeck Hoeck. This is the second top horse that has been pulled away from Hoeck to be sent to Andreas Helgstrand. Danish gold medal mare UNO Donna Unique preceded Polka Hit.
Polka Hit's owner, Berit Nielsen, is extremely happy about the new partnership and has high expectations. The mare is now being prepared for Prix St Georges level and Nielsen wants Helgstrand to do the job. Andreas had his first ride on the mare yesterday and was very impressed by her rideability and work ethic.
"It is so exciting to watch Polka Hit. She and Andreas really match and they are an elegant and harmonious combination," said Berit Nielsen.
Helgstrand rode Polka Hit's dam Polka Nexen in the late 1990s. He qualified her for the 1998 Danish Young Horse Championships but his owner and breeder Hans Jul Andersen withdrew the mare to breed with her.
