Nick Burton to Take Over as British Chief
Selector in 2008
November 2, 2007
Former international eventer Nick
Burton will take over from David Trott as senior chief
selector for the British equestrian teams next
year. David will retire at the next AGM in June 2008
when he also stands down as international teams director,
having served the maximum term.
Nick, who joined Judy Harvey and David on the selectors
panel in August, has had a successful career in eventing,
winning Punchestown Young Rider Championships and representing
Britain at senior European Championship level.
Since retiring from international eventing, Nick (pictured

judge, a list 2a dressage judge, the director of the
Hartpury Equine Academy and the dressage trainer for
the World Class Performance Programme (WCPP) Start
and Potential event squads. He has also competed up
to national small tour level in dressage and trains
with Carl Hester.
David, who will continue in his role as WCPP dressage
manager, said: “The British Dressage board of
directors will be putting Nick forward as a candidate
for the job of International Teams Director. We have
waited a long time to find the right person. Nick has
integrity and is highly regarded as a judge. Also,
there is no conflict of interests as he is not intending
to compete internationally in dressage.”
Two other directors, Training Director Jill Day and
Marketing Director Lindsey Roberts, will also be retiring
at the next AGM.
