Alonso de Quinzanos Grounded in Mexico Due to Swine Flu

May 1, 2009

Maribel AlonsoMaribel Alonso de Quinzanos from Mexico, head of the ground jury and official O-Level judge for the CDI Sydney, has been grounded in Mexico due to the swine flu. She was a key appointment for the ground jury of the Sydney CDI.  Maribel belongs to a very small elite group of “O” Level Judges (FEI 5*) who are accredited to judge at the highest level: Olympic Games and World Championships. Scores from O-Level Judges can qualify horses/riders of other nationalities to Olympic Games and World Championships. Unfortunately it looks as though this opportunity has been lost for our riders this year.

The Organising Committee has tried hard to replace Maribel with another O-Level Judge but at such short notice it is proving impossible. Other FEI-accredited Judges from Argentina, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Korea and New Zealand and Australia will officiate in an exciting program of competitions.
