Ralf Isselhorst Resigns as Australian Dressage Team Trainer
June 4, 2008
Australia is having a hard time keeping a dressage team trainer on board. When Ulla Salzgeber resigned, she left a whirlwind of commotion behind down under. German Ralf Isselhorst had to fill her shoes, yet already called it quits after only one year.
Isselhorst was reluctant to speak to Eurodressage about his resignation and remarked that "internal problems of competence in the top management of the EFA" was the general reason of resignation.
The Australian Equestrian Federation (EFA) released the following statement: "All riders in contention for selection to the 2008 Australian Olympic Dressage Team are working with very high quality personal coaches, who will also be available during the Games in Hong Kong. The EFA Dressage High Performance Panel is confident that the team’s performance at the Olympic Games will not be comprised."
It is striking that none of the Australian dressage riders, who are currently competing in Europe to qualify for the Australian team, train with Isselhorst.
