Schwadroneur Died Unexpectedly
November 25, 2003
The
Elite Trakehner stallion Schwadroneur has passed away
unexpectedly November 20th, 2003. Schwadroneur suffered
from a rupture in his lungs and died. Bred by Otto Langels
from Haemelschenburg, Schwadroneur was by Arogno out
of elite mare Schwalbenburg (Ibikus x Impuls). The stallion
was 20 years old and recently proclaimed 2003 Trakehner
Breeding Sire of the Year at the 2003 Trakehner Stallion
Licensing in Neumunster, Germany.
The licensed Schwadroneur became reserve champion of
the Stallion Performance Test in Adelheidsdorf in 1986.
He was purchased by Olav Brandorff and Kaj Olesen from
Denmark at the Licensing. He became one of the most
popular breeding sires ever on Danish soil. Ridden by
former Olympic Champion Anne Grethe Thornblad, Schwadroneur
was also a star in the Grand Prix dressage ring.
His offspring inherited his atheleticism and talent.
Nicole Ahlefeldt Laurvig Lehn's Esprit is currently
ranked fourth in the Western European League of the
2003/2004 World Cup Series. Schwadroneur has already
sired nine licensed sons of which Danish Young Horse
Dressage Champion Blue Hors Hertug (only horse to win
4, 5 AND 6-year old division), the recently approved
Sharan and the World Young Horse Championships' participant
Maneur are his most famous. Schwadroneur was proclaimed
Elite sire in Denmark in 1995
