March 9, 2010

JJ Ray Ban and Jan BrinkJJ Rayban has been proclaimed the winner of the 2010 Swedish Warmblood Stallion Performance Test held in Flyinge, Sweden. The testing came to a conclusion with a big stallion gala on Saturday evening March 6, 2010.

As a part of the official testing at the Flyinge State Stud the stallions were tried by guest riders Hannes Baumgart and Anna Blomgren, who gave their individual scores to the rideability and potential of the stallions. After all points were tabulated, the judges committee held a closed meeting where they decided that the 4-year old Hanoverian bred chestnut stallion JJ Rayban (by Rascalino x Londonderry) was the champion.

"He is a very nobel, long-lined and long legged stallion," the performance testing committee noted. "He has an expressive head with a long, well shaped neck. He has a clean and active walk, a light and suspended trot with good hind leg activity. The canter is cadenced, ground covering and with good elasticity and hind leg usage.

Guest judge rider Baumgart said that JJ Rayban is a "fantastic horse, super balanced and uphill" and scored him 9,5 and 9,0. Anna Blomgren praised his "delightful cadence in trot," but felt that the horse was "a bit strong today, too heavy in the hand; he might be a bit tired." She gave him twice 8,5.

The best Swedish bred 4-year old stallion was Bellman, a chestnut stallion by Hermes out of Bellona (by Prestige VDL). This 164 cm tall stallion is bred and owned by Birgitta Österberg and Filip Wilhelmsson.

The best scoring 5-year old Swedish bred dressage stallion was Maserati, a Metall x Tip Top offspring, bred by Carina Bengtsson and owned by Lindahl, Lang and SEA Konsult AB.
