Amsterdam Passed Away

May 30, 2005

AmsterdamThe 14-year old KWPN licensed stallion Amsterdam has passed away in Spain last weekend. The chestnut stallion was found dead in his stall in Spain. He was by Argentinus out of Touch of Class (by Tin Rocco x Barsoi xx).

"In the morning, he did his breeding duties and by noon he had died of a heart attack," Amsterdam's owner Joop Van Uytert told Eurodressage.

Bred by K.H. Markus, Amsterdam did his Stallion Performance Test in 1994 and scored 8s for gaits and 9s for character. He competed in the Netherlands at Fourth level under Sjoukje van Kooten, winning the semi finals of the AMEV/Hippo Cup and placing third in the finals at Maastricht.

Though Amsterdam was a very interestingly bred dressage stallion, he never became a star on the Dutch breeding scene and was leased to Spain for the breeding market there.
