Holsteiner Foundation Stallion "Capitol I" passed
away
Capitol
I, on of the most important producer of top Holsteiner
Show Jumping Horses, has passed away. The 24 year old
white stallion by Capitano out of Folia (by Maximus
x Ramzes AA) was bred by Harm Thormählen from Kollmar,
Germany, and died at Jochen Ahsbahs' stable where he
was cared for after his retirement. Capitol was humanely
put down after a straining illness. Capitol descends
from one of the best dam lines in Holstein. Licensed
in 1977 in Neumunster, Capitol I began his breeding
career in Ostholstein, later moving on to Dithmarschen.
In 1978 the stallion, owned by the Holsteiner Verband,
gathered a 82.56 point score in his stallion performance
test in Medingen. A large crop of his offspring became
highly successful in sport and breeding. Famous names
like Calato, Campesino, Carolus I and II, Nissan Carthago
Z, Cassini, Colino, and Cento defended their sire's
honour in show jumping. In Belgium the Capitol I descendant
Canadian River is making headlines, while Indoctro is
his most famous get in The Netherlands. His offspring
produced a total income of 3 million Deutsch Marks.
